Louie

Louis C.K. acknowledged that I exist, I can die happy now!

I'm assuming that Marc Maron will be an old friend that stopped calling Louie when Louie became more famous. They'll have a clip of Maron doing a set at the Comedy Cellar about his rage of other people's fame. Louie will mention his divorce and say "I could have used a friend" just as he did at the end of his WTF interview.

Second guess - Marc Maron is just a morning DJ.

Third guess - They will do a plot on the computer that Louis CK hacked into, as discussed on WTF.

Summer Jams 2012

Ice cream is flowing like ass sweat, time for some summa jams!

Ida Maria - Cherry Red
It reminds me of Grease - She comes out as Sandy with the leather, but then you find out that she has a sensible nightgown on the inside.

Fun. - Some Nights
It's official, Fun is our new anthem band. Move over Bon Jovi and Journey!

Chiddy Bang - Handclaps and Guitars
Perfect for a barbeque or a downtown rooftop!

Jack White - I'm Shakin'
This is a cover from Little Willie John. I love that he completely updated it while keeping an early R&B vibe to it.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
I'd be lying if I said this doesn't come into my head at least once an hour.

Best TV Shows on Netflix

While putting together a blog of my favorite movies on Netflix, I realized that my real favorites are the TV shows. In no particular order, here are the reasons that I am glued to my laptop:

Because we need to get ready for the upcoming new shows and movies on Netflix.

Pot-head interrupts comedians and has a tweet-off, yes please!

I'll let the Emmy awards speak for themselves.

Warning: You will be sitting on the edge of your seat to see if a clown keeps his job or is fired.

Perfect for when you have a Curb Your Enthusiasm craving, but don't have HBO.

I could watch Louis CK fight with Ricky Gervais all day.

 Brits are witty, surprising!

I could watch Aziz Ansari list his favorite foods all day.

Who doesn't want to watch the adult male version of Toddlers & Tiaras?

SNL has been with me since middle school, I often find myself looking up my favorite moments.

The definition of a person the year after graduation when they're faced with the real world.

Pilots That Came Out on Top!

It's that time of the year, the flowers are in bloom and all of my favorite shows are on hiatus. This a good a time as any to look back at the new shows from this year. Keep in mind that I don't have cable, so it will be awhile till I judge Veep or Girls

5. New Girl
This show was an early-favorite for most. The cast is all great and the writing is brilliant. I especially think that Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield stand out.

4. Smash
This show is so cheesy, but I can't take my eyes off of it. The premise of Smash is showing how a Broadway show is created and produced. Warning: You will have the songs from this show in your head all week if you start watching it.

3. Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23
Everything about this premise screams overdone, but somehow it's coming out better each week. They're giving the bitch heart  to keep her believable, but not enough to keep her boring - perfect balance!

2. I Wanna Have Your Baby!
I couldn't come up with 5 new shows that I loved, so a webisode snuck onto the list. SNL writer, Christine Nangle, is the writer and star of this series about a girl that is a "surrogate mother for hire". It's hilarious and features newer members of the SNL cast.

1. Best Friends Forever
This was THE most promising new show I have watched this year. It was said that it is being cancelled because of their low ratings. However, it was barely advertised and put on at the end of the season. Plus, this show is obviously for a DVR/Hulu aged audience, which aren't counted in the ratings. NBC is sending a message by cancelling this show, it is no longer interested in UCB/improv style humor.

Successful Alcoholics

Everyone likes to be buzzed, that's a fact. As TJ Miller said, "When's the last time you went to a concert? Sober? Yea, it's boring. People are irritating and it's not fun." On the other hand, after awhile you're bound to be more more than buzzed and problems arise. This short shows the seesaw of that balance.

Current Jam - Shake It Out

Shake It Out has been on repeat in my car all week. Florence Welch's vocals are perfect for a winter jam song. Welsch says that it is "almost like a hangover cure," but I call it a great song to bring in the new year.

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

This is their first single from Ceremonials, which I recommend everyone check out.

My Top Movies of 2011

I'm so excited...awards season is upon us! I know this a week or two late, but I wanted to share my favorites of 2011.

Crazy, Stupid, Love gave me comfort in two ways – I was able to forgive Steve Carell for leaving The Office to do movies and I finally got what the Ryan Gosling hype is over. I’m surprised more people didn’t see this. I suppose the romantic comedy crowd thought this was an indie film and the hipsters thought it was a romantic comedy. I thought it was a good combination of both.

By the way, poor Emma Stone. She was absolutely perfect in this and The Help, but not one person has mentioned her being nominated for an award.

From the moment I saw Charlize Theron cynically lying to a complete stranger in the Young Adult trailer, I knew I had too much in common with the character to not see this. We all have a dark side that comes out when a few things go wrong, both Charlize Theron and Patton Oswalt show this spiral perfectly. I found it interesting that the Kardashians were always in the background – Was this research for her young adult writing or to numb the loneliness of the hotel room?

My only problem is they didn’t offer a solution to my own problems at the end, but I guess that’s really my issue.

The Descendants perfectly describes what it is like for a white family to grow up in the islands. George Clooney shows what it is to appreciate and love a culture that he was not born into.

This could have been cut-down about a half hour, but I’m assuming that the editor left in more to show the slow process of losing a loved one.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that 50/50 was nominated for the Golden Globes. It isn’t the Woody Allen film or musical that they normally look for. Instead, this is a real story written by a person that had a 50/50 chance at life and kept a sense of humor throughout. Interesting trivia - Will Reiser and Seth Rogen were working on Da Ali G Show when Reiser got the bad news.

Again, as a woman in my 20s I’m required to love Bridesmaids. No one single loves bridal showers and getting to know the brides other friends, Kristen Wiig captured this perfectly. I loved Wiig most in a scene where she takes an hour to make the perfect cupcake then eats it alone, that was an award-winning moment for me.

White People Problems

SNL is having a fabulous season! The only question is, how long are these movie stars going to keep at these bit parts? Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, and Andy Sandburg are bound to move to LA sometime soon. This article confirmed my belief that Taran Killam will soon be to the 10's what Chris Kattan was to the late 90's. I mean, who else can look white (or gay) with just a facial expression?

I'm also going to suggest that Abby Elliot and Nasim Pedram leave so a Molly Shannon can come in.

By the way, was this inspired by Portlandia? Possibly!
